Hi. I'm new to this website but wow. It's great reading people's comments in Istrian, ma mi lo ciamo Triestin. I would love to be in contact with anyone with relatives from Portole (Oprtalj) in Croatia.
Altho' the church records were destroyed during WW2, a copy was sent to the Bishopric of the area. Could be Pazin? Can anyone help me with this contact information?
Also, my grandfather was born in Poljane, parish Podgrad, Slovenia. The township of Poljane is all but consumed by time. I think only 5 houses are still occupied and the rest are crumbling. Does anyone have any old pictures showing Poljane in better days?
Finally, I'm after any info or fotos of the school or surrounding areas my mother went to. She went to elementary school at San Bortolo, which doesn't appear on any maps now. It was a tiny hamlet at the foot of the hills under Parezago, not far from Piran. Does anyone have any fotos of the old main town of Parezago? The buildings are gone now but my mum lived in one of them along the main road.
Great site. Thank you
