The Day of Wedding Bands (La giornata della fede)

As stated in this poster, on Sunday, December 18, 1935 millions of Italians relinquished their gold wedding rings to the Fascist goverment in exchange for a metal band which had that date engraved in it.

Nina Ciceran recalls that day in which her own peasant mother, Caterina Iurman, was obliged to do the same, as undoubtedly were the majority of Istrian women.
