LABIN -
labinska Zajednica Talijana.
U to
zaborav. Ipak, prije nekoliko godina na talijanskom
jeziku objavljena je njena poema »Nepravda«, a u
projektu obnove Narodnog muzeja u Labinu spominje se i
uređenje zbirke te poznate prosvjetne radnice,
humanistkinje, ljevičarke, borca za prava radnika,
velike prijateljice rudara, ali zagovornice suživota
istarskih Talijana i Hrvata.
U skladu s
takvim svjetonazorom surađivala je i s hrvatskim
novinama u Zagrebu, a iako je cijeli radni vijek provela
izvan Labina, u Galižani i najviše u Trstu, posljednja
i njihovu baklju, položi u labinsku zemlju.

LABIN – More than 20 year
ago there was talk that the worker's university that was
planned at that time in Labin would get the name of the
most famous woman from Labin, Giuseppina Martinuzzi,
who's name also carry an Italian elementary school in
Pula and the Italian association in
Labin
(Albona).
At that time the educators from
Labin on their yearly gatherings were getting awards
named in her name, but after the fall of socialism, she
was completely forgotten. But, several years ago her
poem in Italian "Injustice" was published in conjunction
with restoration of the museum in
Labin where they are
planning an exhibit of a collection of works of this
famous educator, humanitarian worker, fighter for the
rights of workers, a great friend of the coal miners and
a promoter of coexistence between Italians and Croats in
Istria.
Because of her international
views she cooperated with the Croatian newspapers in
Zagreb, and even though she spent most of her working
life outside Labin; in Galizana and mostly in
Trieste,
the last wish of Giuseppina Maria Sandra Martinuzzi [see
note] was that her body be placed in
Labin's soil with the accompaniment of the coalminers
and their torches. This happened on 25 of November 1925,
80 years ago, and this would be a good time for one of
the Labin's educational institutions, in this case the
People's Open University, to carry the name of this
exemplary woman and teacher, whose birth home is located
in the old part of town called Rialto. This would be one
more proof that the people of
Labin honor their
important historical personages.
