The little town of Raša (Arsia), is found 5 km southwest of Labin (Albona). Built entirely during 1934-5, this is Istria's newest town, designed during Mussolini's regime by the architect Pulitzer-Finali to fulfill the needs of the Raša (Arsia) coal mines. The architectural infrastructure of the town is an example of a working-class settlement that was common to that period: standardized form of houses, a square, fountain, school, church and hotel. The unique features of the town is the church of St. Barbara which has a roof in the form of an overturned coal wagon and a bell tower that is shaped like a miner's lamp. Articles:
